Research & Project Design

Research and program design refers to the overall strategy chosen to integrate the various components of a study in a coherent and logical way, ultimately answering your proposed research question(s). Grant proposals usually focus on either research or programs.  A research grant focuses on establishing new knowledge, while program grants will take new knowledge and apply or implement it to different populations.  Their methodological designs, are therefore, quite different. The stated research problem will determine the type of design utilized. 

Research and program design is one of the things we do best.  With data analysis and results being an end product of all grants, designing your research and program with the end in mind is critical.  Proposal reviewers, especially at the federal level, are well informed in appropriate research design, and specifically look for holes in your research and program design – particularly in your proposed theory, methodology, and analysis plan.
