Origin Story
Elite Research, LLC was founded in Texas under the leadership of René Paulson, whose career as a statistician was shaped not by abstraction, but by the practical demands of real-world decision-making. After years of working across applied research, evaluation, and data analysis projects, René saw a recurring gap between how research was often designed and how it needed to function in practice. Too many studies were technically sound yet disconnected from the operational, regulatory, and human contexts in which results would be used. With that insight, René established Elite Research to bring applied statistics and research design into closer alignment with the realities faced by public agencies, regulated industries, and community-serving organizations.
From the beginning, the firm was built on the idea that statistical rigor should serve clarity, accountability, and action, not complexity for its own sake. Elite Research grew by taking on work that demanded both technical depth and contextual understanding, including regulatory studies, fee and rate analyses, program evaluations, and policy-focused research. Under René’s leadership, the firm adopted a matrix-based structure that brings together statisticians, evaluators, researchers, and technologists around each project. This model ensures that every engagement benefits from specialized expertise applied in a coordinated way, with the client’s needs and decision environment guiding the work. Today, Elite Research reflects René Paulson’s founding vision: a firm where applied statistics anchor thoughtful research, where data is translated into insight with purpose, and where clients can trust that the analyses they rely on are sound.
Business Structure
Elite Research, LLC operates under a matrix organizational structure designed to be both agile and deeply collaborative, with the President serving as the primary decision-maker to ensure clarity, consistency, and accountability across the organization. This structure allows teams to be assembled around the specific needs of each engagement rather than confined to rigid departmental silos, enabling us to respond quickly and thoughtfully to complex research and evaluation challenges.
Our service providers span research, evaluation, and statistics, computing and IT, editing, and optimization, and they work in close coordination from project inception through delivery. By integrating these disciplines, we ensure that methodological rigor, technical infrastructure, clarity of communication, and usability of results are addressed simultaneously rather than sequentially. Directors and consultants at Elite Research are grounded in practical, real-world research experience, with a strong emphasis on applied problem-solving rather than purely theoretical or abstract models. This perspective allows us to anticipate operational constraints, stakeholder needs, and data realities that often shape applied research efforts. As a result, every project benefits from specialized expertise applied with purpose and context. Our approach keeps clients and their research or evaluation objectives at the center of the work, shaping customized strategies that are responsive, efficient, and outcome-driven. At Elite Research, projects are not treated as transactions but as collaborative journeys, with teams committed to delivering insights that are credible, actionable, and meaningful in the environments where decisions are made.
